Burning Desire

The arrows soared through the clear now scarlet sky.  They all flew in unison, creating the only cloud in the sky that shone in every colour imaginable.  The sound of the tension of the bows being reloaded seemed to echo around
Shika.  He, however, was replacing his bow and removing Oni and throwing axe.  The dark cloaked army was racing towards them swords drawn, as the arrows rained down upon them.  Sparks exploded all around the racing beasts and former Entity members.  Very few heads disappeared from the mass of bodies.
“Arrows away, blades out!”  Shika shouted to his army.  Whether he liked it or not, he was in charge of an army of men and women.  He knew nothing of battle tactics or techniques, but he knew that he had supporters no matter what.  Shika turned his back to the charging army.
“You may see old friends in this army and they might try to deceive you with false hope.  Do NOT listen to these wild stories.  They are now evil.  There is no hope for them.  Take their lives or they’ll take yours, and remember: The Black Opal covers their bodies; the only exposed areas are the hands and heads.  Do not try to kill them in any other area.  Show no mercy, because they won’t.”  Shika raised his sword and turned around, they were only feet away.  “ATTACK!”
The army of the living charged forwards, past the immobile Sayuri and Shika.  They knew that they must wait for a path to be made.  They watched as Entity cut their way through the first wave of Mimps.  Their crude weapons were being tossed in the air along with numerous heads.
“Not yet.” Shika loudly told Sayuri.  He had to raise his voice because the noise from the battle before them was far too loud.  “Not yet.” He repeated.  Anticipation was rises with each word.  “In just a moment, be patient.” Shika looked deep into Sayuri’s eyes.  The connection drowned out all the noise from the battle.  “Stick with me at all times, I won’t let you die, I promise.” Thought Shika, and then he heard Sayuri’s voice but she wasn’t opening her mouth, “I’ll be with you until the end.” Echoed her voice.
The noises of battle came back into focus, and there was a new noise growing from behind the walls.  Dust was pouring over the enormous walls enrobing the battlefield with a thick layer of red fog.  After the entire area was smothered, the noise started to move upwards.
“Now!” He shouted right in Sayuri’s face.  They both took their first paces forward and over 3000 dragons began pouring over the walls just as the dust had done earlier.  Shika replaced Oni and removed yet another throwing axe.  The long blades would be far too difficult to wield in such close combat.  His first attack charged at him, blade raised above his head, when he was close, the Mimp brought is down with great force.  Shika dodge, sliced off its hand at the wrist and, with his other axe, removed the head.  The black blood sprayed right in his face, he merely ignored it because he was defending himself against numerous other Mimps.
Shika fought hard, and it was much more difficult than he ever thought it would be.  There was an excessive amount of blood on the ground, both black and red.  It was like have a sword fight on ice, not to mention the amounts of limbs and heads that were now lying all over the place.  Occasionally he would stumble, only to find he that he had tripped over an Entity member’s head.  He continued on like nothing had happened, though.  It was about fifteen minutes before Shika realized, “Oh shit, Sayuri.”
He turned around ad looked frantically through the crowd of heads and blades. He couldn’t see her anywhere.  He continued protecting himself, but didn’t take his eyes off the horizon.  “C’mon, any sign where she is, please.” He begged in his mind.  Just as he finished thinking this, two pearly white wings burst through the tops of the crowd, and created a huge blast of wind, throwing Mornalls and Mimps all over the place.  Shika removed Chimaera and jammed it deep into the earth.  A large ring of fire burst from the sword and spread across the valley, ending just before where Sayuri stood.
“I thought lost you for a second, there.” Shika panted.  Apparently killing takes a lot out of you.
“Yeah, I know.  I heard you.”  Sayuri was also breathless.  To their right a loud thump shook the ground.  They both sharply turned to see Kiri completely decked out in his armor.  He motioned that they both get on his back.
“You go Shika, I can do that myself.” Sayuri spread her wings out.  Kiri knelt down so Shika could hop on.  He held on around Kiri’s neck.  A huge burst launched them upwards.  They continued to gain altitude, and getting a bird’s eye view of the entire battle.  There were many bright bursts of colours from Entity members using their magic to overcome the army.  Shika noticed that the numbers of Mimps had greatly decreased.  There were little to none less.  Also, most of the former Entity members were at the back of the battle, protecting Koroshite, who was firing out sludge balls at the air borne dragons.
Shika withdrew his bow and started raining down arrows at the evil Entity members; Sayuri was doing the same, her wings beating hard.  The bright coloured robes were overtaking the dark army; victory looked immanent.  Shika raised his fist over to Sayuri, she knew what he was signaling; he saw victory.  Then everything went dark.
It was like someone had turned off every source of light.  Koroshite had sent up a black veil do send the sunset into a rapid darkness.  As night hit, the Mornalls all began to scream in joy and they began attacking in a much more aggressive way.  Shika could now hear more human screams than before; this was not a good sign.
Shika felt something weird happen to him.  Head was swirling, it felt like was falling, but he was still on the back of Kiri.  His eyes rolled back into his head and he was now looking through someone else’s eyes, Koroshite’s eyes, but the vision was very fuzzy.  He could see both himself and Sayuri flying around directly above him.  He raised his cloaked arms and fired two massive sludge balls towards them.  The blurring grew even more and then the vision stopped.  Shika came back to his consciousness.  He looked down at Koroshite; both his arms were raised.
Without any hesitation, Shika leapt off Kiri’s back and started his descent.  The dark wind burning against his face.  Shika straightened his body and started falling in a dive position.  He saw the two giant sludge balls coming towards him.  He took out both Chimaera and Oni.  His blades were completely sideways and he drew closer and closer to the black sludge.  He braced himself for the impact.
The swords collided with the projectiles and Shika was flipped around in mid air.  Luckily the balls were knocked off in a different direction. The downside is that he lost both Oni and Chimaera in the collision.  His eyes were darting everywhere, looking for his lost weapons.  He could see Oni glistening through the darkness, but Chimaera was nowhere to be found.  He was spinning around; he ground was growing much closer.  He could now hear the sounds of the battle were growing much louder.  Shika righted himself and prepared for some seriously injuries.
His legs broke on impact and his body crashed, with much force, into the solid ground.  He grabbed his legs quickly and began healing.  The pain was evaporating and the use of his legs was returning.  Once his legs had been completely healed, he started healing all the deep cuts and possible broken bones.  A soft flump sounded right beside him.
“What the hell was that all about?  Did you decide you didn’t want to fight anymore?” Sayuri was shouting at Shika, who was pushing himself, only wincing slightly as he continued to heal.
“No, I was saving yours, Kiri’s and my collective asses.  Koroshite had fired two of his sludge things, and you would’ve been destroyed by them if I didn’t do that.”
“I’m grateful.” Sayuri said in a sarcastic tone.  “Here, you dropped these while you were doing your impression of rain.  Now, let’s find Koroshite.”
“Did someone say my name?” Laughed the growling voice of Koroshite.  They both whipped their heads around and looked into his glaring mask.  Shika put away Chimaera and took out his staff.
“My, aren’t we quick to react.”  His cockiness was starting to eat away at Shika, causing him to become angrier.  “Let’s not jump the bow here.  How’s about we have a seat and talk this over.” Joked Koroshite.  Sayuri and Shika both started with anger, not budging from their fighting stances.  “I guess you two don’t take jokes very well, no matter, I’m not hear to entertain you; I’m here to kill you.” At these words two long tentacles shot out from his robes and headed straight towards the two warriors.  Shika threw his left hand up, and spun it around in a circle, creating a glowing white barrier protecting both him and Sayuri.
“Nice trick!” Said Koroshite in a genuinely impressed tone, “I’ve got one myself, it’s called “Black Tornado.” He raised his arms, but as he did this, two long metal whips wrapped around his shoulders.  Smoke began billowing from his robes.  “What the hell is this?” Panicked Koroshite.
“Miss and Boyfriend, attack now.” Cried the voice of Boki, but he looked much different.  He was wearing a suit of armor that added two feet to his height and he was wielding numerous weapons with four extra arms on his body.  Two held sai’s, two held whips and two held warhammers.
“My father always said you were the brightest mind ever to grace this earth.” Sayuri shouted in amazement.  The battle was still raging on behind them; the two Entity groups were now battling.
“We can reminisce later Miss, I told you to attack him.” Boki told her while struggling to hold the flailing Koroshite.  Sayuri shut up and drew back her bow.  The arrow was released and it just went directly through his robes and ricochet off Boki’s armor.
“Blades, use your damn blades.” Boki was starting to lose his temper.  Shika sprung first, with Chimaera out and the blade passed straight through, same as Sayuri’s arrow.  Shika threw his blade back into its sheath and whipped out his staff.  Boki couldn’t hold on anymore.  Koroshite had wrapped his tentacles completely around Boki’s armor, and tossed him deep into the crowd of battling Entity members.
“Looks like it’s back to just us.  You can’t hit him, but just block his blades.” Shika told Sayuri.
“Oh, so he’s bossing you around.  I would’ve thought that it’d be the other way around, she seems like the controlling type.” Laughed Koroshite.  Shika swung his staff around like a baseball bat and cracked Koroshite right in his skull.  He stumbled slightly and shook the pain off.
“I was just trying to lighten the mood so you’d die a little happier; but since you’re going to be a dick out it, let’s get this ball rolling.  Which swords should I use?  I think mine and, hmm.” Koroshite rubbed his chin with his tentacles that were forming a hand.  “I think your old friend Denwa’s sword would fit just nicely.” The blade completely wrapped in electricity floated out from his robes, he grasped it with his tentacle made hand.
Shika’s eyes were blazing now, and Sayuri’s looked like they were about to, also.  She leapt for him with her two Kiss out.  Shika rushed forwards too, with Chimaera and his staff readied.  Sayuri’s blade’s crashed into Koroshite’s sending sparks flying everywhere.  Koroshite flew backwards; obviously Sayuri put a lot of force behind her slash.  Shika ran up to the off-balance Koroshite and plunged his sword into his body.  Nothing happened.  Koroshite sighed.
“I thought that you would’ve know this by now you stupid boy.” He sounded disappointed.
“And I thought you knew my powers by now.” A grin of victory was slapped on Shika’s face.  He closed his eyes and a huge dome of white flames burst out around the three combatants.  All sounds of the battle were gone, it was like someone had put the fight on mute.  Koroshite glided backwards and was frantically looking around at the bright dome.  The glowing grabbed the attention of a handful of Mornalls and the charged the dome.  On contact they turned to solid granite.
“This is to stop you from leaving, or bringing anyone else in.” Shika could sense the fear from Koroshite.
Koroshite backed up, trying to make as much distance from Shika and Sayuri.  He was panicking; there was no escape.  His head was darting everywhere looking for weaknesses then it snapped back right at Shika and Sayuri.  Close to a hundred tentacles shot out straight towards them.  Shika merely held out his hand and a white shield stopped each one.  “C’mon, did you really think that would work” Shika sighed with a smile.
Completely out of the blue, Sayuri bolted forwards towards Koroshite. “Sayuri!  Wait!” Shika shouted after her, but she had her blinders on.  Her wings blasted out, and she lifted high in the air.  She was moving so quickly Shika couldn’t keep up with what was going on.  All he could see was the arrows she was firing all going through Koroshite and landing all around him.  Koroshite turned and looked at Shika.  “You’re in love with that?  She’s an idiot!  You could’ve at least tried to look for someone who could put two and two together.”
Shika couldn’t take many more of Koroshite’s snide comments, his robes were starting to smoke he was so angry.  Shika ran towards Koroshite with only his staff out now.  He spun it around, hit him in the stomach.  Shika lifted it up and it connected with his chin, the impact made his head fling back, exposing his neck.  Shika drew back the staff and was about to jab him in the throat when a glowing pink dagger passed through his target.
“Sayuri what are you doing?” Asked Shika in a dumbfounded voice.
“I’m helping you!” Sayuri retorted.  Shika grabbed her collar and dragged her away from the still shaken Koroshite.  Shika lowered his voice and whispered, “You can’t hurt him.  Purity and light hurts him, you don’t have those powers.  I do need you to distract him.  If he’s attacking two people at once, he’s bound to falter.” Shika was almost begging.  Sayuri knew he was right, she mumbled “ok” and they both charged Koroshite.
Sparks were spraying everywhere, Shika’s staff was starting to spark; the thin layer of wood surrounding it was stripping off from all the sword slashes.  Sayuri seemed to be struggling in this battle.  She never once looked at his sword; she was glaring through the eye holes of his mask.  Since she wasn’t paying attention, Shika had to protect both himself and Sayuri.
“Come on, Sayuri.  Pull your own weight.” Shika shouted as he stuck the butt end of his staff out to stop Koroshite’s sword from digging into her brain.
“I – I can’t see what he’s doing next.” She raised her daggers up to block a high attack.
“Focus, people, focus.  I’d like to have a competent fight, if you don’t mind.” Koroshite laughed.
“SHUT UP!” Both Shika and Sayuri shouted and they both and they thrust their weapons at Koroshite.  Koroshite deflected the attacks sending them both stumbling past them.  He spun his swords around and swung.  A disgusting squelched of flesh being separated.  There was no cry of pain, only a blast of blood.  The limp body fell forwards and the almost decapitated head folded over when it hit the earth.
“One down, one to go.” Koroshite then bust into evil laughter.
“Sayuri, no!” Shika slapped his hand on the bloody neck and tried to heal her, but she was already gone.  Shika fell on to her lifeless body in tears.
“You bastard, you heartless bastard.  You don’t deserve to live!” Shika was screaming at the top of his lungs.  His words were shaking from the pain.
“She was a worthless little shit anyway.” Koroshite growled as he looked at the corpse. “Maybe she’ll be better as fertilizer.”
Shika rose slowly to his feet.  His robes were smothered in white flames, along with his entire body.  The only distinguishable features were his eyes and mouth, which were burning red.  “I would’ve thought that you of all people would know that the angrier I grow, the better I fight.  I will kill you before you can even move.”  Where Shika was standing turned into a smoldering black path of grass and he appeared directly in front of Koroshite. Shika removed Oni from the staff and plunged it straight into Koroshite’s jaw.  The sword appeared through the top of his skull. Shika removed the blade and swung it around.
A white mask was tossed high in the air as the decapitated skull.  Black ooze sprayed all over his face and into his ignited eyes.  He didn’t flinch; he let the blood smother him, he let the evil be released.  Shika lowered his arm, and all the fire was extinguished.  The greatest evil was destroy, along with his own life.
